Double the Batch


I am always looking for ways to save time. One way I find really helpful is a simple one. COOK DOUBLE BATCHES WHERE YOU CAN!!

Below are some double batch ideas that have become regular occurrances in our house.


1. MASH POTATO – sweet or plain

Cook up a double batch of mash potato to your liking. On night one, serve it with chicken, steak or any piece of protein.

On night two, use it as the topping for a shepherd's pie or a fish pie.



I would use the first batch and then freeze the second batch. My kids would be bored having the meat 2 nights in a row. On either night you could use the bolognaise for any of the following:

Spaghetti Bolognaise

Shepherd's Pie

Normal meat Pie (with pastry)



Serving of sauce, topped with cheese and sour crea, served with salad

Savoury toasted sandwiches

The list is endless. I make mine with heaps of vegies so it is not too meaty.



Sunday mornings is pancake morning in our house, so when I am in the mood, I will double the batch and freeze some. They can be for afternoon teas or lunch boxes.


Then there are the old favourites. Make a double batch of soup, freeze some bisciut dough. The options are endless.
