Building a Better Blog

Do you have a Blog? Have you just started out on the Blog journey? Are you trying to improve your Blog? I have been blogging for over 2 years now and would really like to improve on what I have been doing and take it to the next level.

A little while ago I came across a great place to learn how to improve my blog and it is also a platform where you can share your blog. Bloggy Moms is a “a place to find support and encouragement throughout the social media journey.  – See more at:”.

I have rediscovered my download from them that walks you through the first 3 months to improving your blog or setting one up. There are additional downloads but I am going to go through the first 3 months again. It will take me less than that but I want to check out every step again and see what I can do. If you are in the same boat as me or would like to set up a blog of your own, pop along to Bloggy Moms and have a browse. The link below will take you there. I am addicted.

Blog Planner (To Date)

Yeah, I finally have something to show for the Blog Planner I have been working on. There are still some pages I would like to add but this is a good start. Graphics are courtesy of Petit Tatti

The Planner consists of:

Cover Page

3 blank monthly planner pages – different colours for more choices

* You will need 12 copies, one for each month of the year

* Write the month at the top and then use the Yearly Calendar to see where 1st goes for each month. Fill in the days in the coloured circles.

Weekly blog planner page

* You will need 52 of these should you be blogging every week. I do 10 at a time in case I don’t blog in a particular week.

Blog expense tracker sheet

* Print out sheets as needed

Blog statistics page

* You should only need one of these

More details of how I use these pages will be in a later post.

You are able to download the pages for free by clicking on the pictures below. I also use a Yearly Calendar and insert this after the cover page. This is used to circle significant dates for the year ahead. I only ask that you use it for personal use and not sell or download it to share as your own.

Blog Planner (Sneak Peek)

Organising is always something I strive to be better at. The Mum on the Run blog is no different. There are so many gorgeous Blog Planners out there but I thought I would design my own. Once complete it will be free to download, for a short time. I am also working on adding a shop to the blog where all free printables and new cheap ones will be available to download. Below there is a sneak peak of what the cover looks like. Stay tuned for the rest.

Planning and Organising Week

Today is the first of July and it is time to get organised again. Our kidlets have 1 more week of school holidays and it is going to be as busy as the last. There is so much planning and organising to do that I need to take a step back and tackle things one step at a time.

We are renovating so there is always a room or two in a little chaos. Usually our little spare room. This has to be totally fixed and sorted as my mother-in-law arrives on Thursday for a visit and I guess she needs somewhere to sleep.

While she is here we will be heading away – kid free – for three nights and I like to plan everything so things need to get organised there.

I have my July calendar ready to plan events, activities and family to-dos. Check out my last post for a copy to download for free.

Kids chore charts need to be redone as it is about time they got another little job added to the list. I also want to revamp their afternoon and evening routines as we are so busy during school weeks that schedules need to be followed or I go a little “nutty”.

Besides the personal organising, my Blog needs a little tweaking. I have been using:
Guide to a Better Blog

I love how easy it is to follow. I have just downloaded Months 4 -6 so I can continue to improve my little personal project. If you run a blog and would like to improve it in some areas click on the link above. It will take you to the place to download this guide. It costs about $10 but is well worth it. As you can see 6 months is up so I am a little behind the 3 months. I downloaded it later and have been doing a little step each time I have a chance.

This week will be spent getting a little more organised with the blog so posts will be scarce. I will still be on the FB page.

Have a great week.

My Favourite Five…. (Blogs)

I love blogging and following other blogs. There are sooooo many that I like. I have begun putting a Blog Roll together but thought I would share my Favourite Five, at the moment. This could change but for now, these are the 5 blogs that I go to regularly. Just click on their blog graphic and it will take you right there. You will need to click on the website link for the second one.

1. The Organised Housewife

For tips on organisation, family and lots of great printable downloads.

The Organised Housewife
2. The Small Things Blog
Great hair and make up tutorials. I have learnt so much about awesome hair products to use. It is American based so I sometimes have to do some searching for the Australian equivalent.
3. Seven Cherubs
A great blog about parenting and keeping it real with 7 kidlets to look after. Naomi also makes beautiful jewellery.
4. Fox in Flats
The yummy mummy website you have been looking for. So many great ideas for ‘navigating motherhood in style’. Definitely one of my favourites for style ideas.
5. Styling You
Another awesome site for style advice. I love the Unlock Your Style advice. I definitely lost mine after having kids. Ok, since I was pregnant with my first.

Always Room For Improvement

Over the last couple of weeks I have come to accept that I am a little bit of a control freak. I say that in the nicest way. I like routine and would love it if everyone in the family got on board. I can be a contradictory in terms too as I like to work on and improve things all the time. Mainly because I get bored. Confused? That’s ok. I get that way too. Due to my need to update all the time, I am working on improving and updating aspects of this blog.

I would love to know all the things you enjoy about following us. It would be great as well if you had any ideas of what you would like to see on our page.
